With experience coaching sports at regional, national, and international levels, he takes pride in helping beginners improve their skills and build confidence. His approach is focused on entry-level coaching, finding joy in seeing others succeed as they develop. Once players are ready to take their game to the next level, he’s happy to hand them over to the experts.
Known for his energy and enthusiasm, he’s the ideal coach for drilling and cardio sessions that challenge players while keeping things fun. If you’re looking for a great session and want to last more than 45 minutes without breaking a sweat, he’ll send you to Andy or Tony! He’s also passionate about helping tamariki improve their skills and have a blast while learning.

Bio: Born and raised “Rewa Hard” in South Auckland, with whakapapa to the 685, he is married to a strong Waikato wahine-toa and is a proud father of 4 tamariki. He has called Kirikiriroa home for 17 years.
His Pickleball journey began in July 2022 when Andrew and Kylee Widdicombe brought the sport to Temple View from American Samoa. Tragically, Kylee passed away during their second session—a loss that inspired him to carry on her legacy. Together with others, he helped grow Temple View Pickleball, starting with early morning games on a taped church court and evolving into tournaments and community growth.
Passionate about the game’s physical and mental benefits, he now coaches beginners and values giving back through Topspin Pickleball.

Now moving to pickleball. Now, as he transitions to pickleball, he’s fully immersed in the sport and loving every moment. Introducing and helping people from all ages and backgrounds improve at pickleball is a privilege. He believes the sport’s low barrier to entry is what makes it special—anyone, at any stage of life, can pick up a paddle and enjoy the game. He was born and bred in Hastings and is a dedicated husband and father of two young kids. His pickleball journey began when his family invited him to play. Though hesitant at first, he quickly became addicted to the sport. What he enjoys most about pickleball is the people—the sense of community and camaraderie it brings. Now, his goal is to help others discover and love the game as much as he does by supporting their development and introducing them to the pickleball community.

Bio: Born and raised in Hamilton, Kris is of Ngāti Kahungunu and Hilo, Hawaii descent. With a strong foundation in competitive sports, she has competed and coached basketball and athletics at regional and national levels. But enjoys playing volleyball, softball and table tennis socially. A certified Level 2 Pickleball Referee, endorsed by David Jay, the Head Referee of Australian Pickleball, Kris is also an active committee member of the Hamilton Pickleball Club, where she plays a pivotal role in organizing events and promoting the growth of the sport. Kris is passionate about coaching and helping individuals build self-confidence, improve their physical well-being, and have fun while playing pickleball. She is dedicated to inspiring others to enjoy the sport, while focusing on their health, fitness, and overall happiness. Her own journey is a testament to the transformative power of sports. After taking a long break from athletics due to injuries, knee complications, weight gain became a struggle and movement became more challenging. But in April 2023, she was introduced to the game of Pickleball, a "funny" name that quickly became her new passion. From that moment, she found a path to reclaiming both her physical and mental health. Now, Kris is eager to help others of all ages reach their fullest potential and guide them on their journey.

Bio: Reiona King, also known as 'Ona,' is a proud Hamilton native, married to a Tainui Tane, and a mother to three beautiful tamariki. Her athletic journey spans Squash, Swimming, and Water Polo, where she competed and coached at regional and national levels. After an injury sidelined her for a year of recovery, Ona discovered Pickleball in January 2023, and quickly found her new passion. Since then, she has earned 9 medals in tournaments and events held throughout New Zealand. Ona is a certified Level 2 Pickleball Referee, with endorsement from Head Referee David Jay of Pickleball Australia. As the Vice President of the Hamilton Pickleball Club, Ona is committed to growing the sport within the local community. She also has a strong passion for the growth and development of individuals who want to take the next step with their own pickleball journey and is happy to help encourage and develop those skills in a fun, friendly and inclusive environment.
